Find a licensed scrap yard or breaker, area by area
Every scrap-metal site must hold a licence from its local authority under the Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013, and every car-breaking ATF must hold an environmental permit from the EA, Natural Resources Wales or SEPA. Browse 3,650 current entries — 1,976 licensed scrap dealers plus 1,674 Authorised Treatment Facilities (ATFs) for end-of-life vehicles — from official public registers, organised by postcode area and council.
Licences expire and are revoked — check the valid until column and confirm with the council before you travel or hand over metal. Scrapping guide →
