The Environment Agency’s Scrap Metal Dealers public register (official download), retrieved 2026-10-10: 1,976 current licences across 148+ councils.

Current registrations only?

Yes — licences expired before 2026-10-10 are excluded. Licences can still be revoked; confirm with the council for anything critical.

Why do some listings show “Collector”?

Collectors are mobile buyers without fixed yards. For a physical breaker or scrap yard, look for “Site”.

Is this an official site?

No — independent. The official register is on environment.data.gov.uk.
